Frequently asked questions

Which password do I enter, my account password or something else?
Your DataForSEO API password, not the password you log into the website with. The login field takes your account email. You will find the API password in the DataForSEO dashboard under API access.
How much does each run cost?
The tool sends one request to the DataForSEO Labs Keyword Suggestions live endpoint per seed keyword, priced at 0.05 USD per request as of 2024. Ten seed keywords therefore cost around 0.50 USD regardless of how many suggestions each returns.
Why does a suggestion only appear under one of my seed keywords?
Results are deduplicated on the suggested keyword alone. If two seeds return the same suggestion, only the first occurrence survives, attached to whichever seed was processed first. So the seed_keyword column tells you one seed that produced the suggestion, not all of them.
Why have hyphens disappeared from the suggested keywords?
The tool replaces every hyphen in a suggested keyword with a space, so 'e-commerce platform' comes out as 'e commerce platform'. Bear this in mind if you match the output against other keyword lists.
What happens if one seed keyword fails?
Processing is sequential and a failed seed does not stop the run. The error is collected and shown in an 'Errors' expander beneath the results, so check it before assuming full coverage. Each request also has a 60 second timeout.

This tool started as bespoke client work. I build custom scripts, data pipelines, and full apps for SEO and product data problems that off-the-shelf tools don't solve.
